Hiram E. Leonard Diary, August 19 - 25, 1869

19th Thursday  fine weather  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out.

20th Friday  A fine day but a heavey shower in evening & rained some or less all night the ground was wet  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed tiard & nearly worne out with trouble etc.

21st Saturday  A cloudy muddy damp day  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick  Eliza McNelly came home from Leathermans tonight in stage Emma Stone came home from St Charles  [in margin]  Eliza came back from Elgin.

22nd Sunday  A cloudy damp day  I did my choars was at the house all day a choaring round & set up a leach tub & wrote some etc  Em Caroline & Eliza went to Mrs Stones I was at the office in the evening came home & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick etc.

23rd Monday  A fine pleasant hot day  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick  Caroline, Eliza & Wallace started tonight about 12 oclock with Warner to go to Barruses.

24th Tuesday  A fine hot day  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ sick.

25th Wednesday  A fine hot day  I did my choars was at the office all day came home at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick  Mrs Stone came & stayed the rest of the week  Wm McNelly’s girl Ann Eliza born.”
