Hiram E. Leonard Diary, January 18 - 24, 1871

“18th Wednesday  fine winter weather cloudy & damp  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.

“19th Thursday  rather fine for winter  I did my choars was at the office all day choaring closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick [in margin] Frank went to Chicago with Warren.

“20th Friday  rather fine for winter  some cloudy  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & tiard  Caroline went to Naperville with C Barrus & _______ got back about 2 ½.

“21st Saturday  fine day some cloudy  I did my choars choared round the store closed up at 9 & went to bed at 11 about sick  Frank Wellman came back from Chicago & Mrs Stone came & stayed all night _________ Ida came out.

“22nd Sunday  pretty fine for winter snowed a part of the day  I choared round & went to bed about 9 nearly sick & tiard  Mrs Stone left after breckfust run round town some and went to Jack Dilleys to see Nelson  Frank here.

“23rd Monday  pretty fine for winter  I did my choars was at the choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 sick.

“24th Tuesday  fine for winter  I did my choars was round the office all day a choaring closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.”
