Hiram E. Leonard Diary, May 10 - 16, 1871

10th Wednesday  A fine pleasant warme day & dry  I did my choars was round the office the most of the day went up to the farm & drove down my heifer & choared round about all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 tiard & sick.

11th Thursday  A cold morning with considerable frost  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.

12th Friday  rather a fine dry cool day   I did my choars was round the office all day choaring  Caroline went up to the farm & caught Barrus & boys a malling my yearly heifer  came back  I closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick [in margin] Barrus whipped my heifer.

13th Saturday  rather a fine dry day with a cool air  I did my choars choared round the office all day went up to the farm, closed up about 8 & went to bed about 9 about sick  Caroline Mrs Tart & ____________ went to Aurora with H Rogers, started at 8 back 4 or 5.

14th Sunday  fine hot dry day some cloudy  I did my choars went to Barruses in the morning was at home all day went to bed about 9 nearly sick  Mrs Stone & Emma came down today.

15th Monday  fine cool dry weather  I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick [in margin]  Col Warren went to Chicago for juror man.

16th Tuesday  A fine warm dry day, the ground verry dry, I did my choars was choaring round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick  From 15 to 20 men to work on the Lehman house for a man by the name of Wadlow from Chicago.”
