Hiram E. Leonard Diary, March 7 - 13, 1872

7th Thursday  snowed more or less all day & grew cold stormed all night, a bad storme 3 or 4 inches of snow fell  I did my choars choared round more or less all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 10 tiard & nearly sick.

8th Friday  stormed some the most of the day  I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 10 nearly sick & tiard.

9th Saturday  A pretty fine day & thawed some, a cold night & some clouded me closed up at 8 and went to bed about 10 tiard & nearly sick [in margin] our fol _____ washed.

10th Sunday  A fine pleasant day & thawed conciderable, some cloudy  A cool evening A cool night & froze  I did my choars choared round the office packed some wine etc for William J McNelly to carry home with him folks went to meeting in afternoon & evening  William & Emma Barrus went up to Barruses in morning & found him pretty crafted & rough & went to the farm in afternoon & Wm McNelly & I went to the burying ground after supper  Charles came down to see Emma & had a talk  George Hagerman & Cap Watson lady were down [in margin] Frank Brown was married tonight to a Miss Hulett of Scott Co.

11th Monday  rather fine weather  I did my choars choared round all day and went to the farm & closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 10 tiard & nearly sick with cold  [in margin] William McNelly started back home to Iowa this morning with 6 ducks etc he started in the stage with he had two boxes.

12th Tuesday  rather fine weather but cold  I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 10, tiard & nearly sick with a cold.

“13th Wednesday  rather cool cloudy disagreeable weather  I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 10 tiard & nearly sick with a cold [in margin] Warners son Willy died this morning in Chicago, Judson Smith came out this forenoon to make arrangements for funeral tomorrow  Emma Barrus went to Gust McKellips to work a while.”
