Hiram E. Leonard Diary, April 4 - 10, 1872

4th Thursday  fine weather but cold nights  I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold [in margin] I do my choaring up to the place all the week.

5th Friday  A fine day & evening but a cool night  I did my choars choared round the most of the day closed at 7 ½ & went to bed about 12 as there was an exebition of the school in the school room tonight and they held it till 11 ½, Barrus carried little Ed to Resseguie today in afternoon.

6th Saturday  A fine cloudy morning & began to rain about 10 & wet conciderable all day was muddy  I did my choars choared round the most of the day closed up at 7 ½ & went to bed about 9 tiard and nearly sick with a cold [in margin] Barrus mooved some of his things to Kriners & it rained so he could not finish mooving but Charles took the young horse & cold & went to Jude Garys & Barrus took the mair & went to RSS Reynolds.

7th Sunday  A cloudy damp disagreeable day & verry muddy going  I did my choars here & up to the place eat breckfust & went to the place & watered my cattle & cleaned out the stables & fixed some fence & came back & choared round here choared round went to bed about 9 tiard & nearly sick with a cold  Emma went to meeting twice today.

8th Monday  rather fine, but cool dry weather, I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 10 tiard & nearly sick with cold.

9th Tuesday  fine cool dry weather  I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at about 10 tiard and nearly sick.

10th Wednesday  fine cool dry weather  I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 10 tiard & nearly sick with a cold.”
