Hiram E. Leonard Diary, July 18 - 24, 1872

18th Thursday  rather a fine day but some cloudy a light shower  I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed at about 10 tierd & nearly sick.

19th Friday  A fine cool morning but hot in the middle of the day  I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed at about 10 nearly sick & tiered out  I had my picture and Shaker Boys taken today by Warren Doyn this forenoon for the first time  I had 12 taken 4 of them with Shaker Boy  Caroline had her picture taken large & framed & 2 small ones this afternoon, F Pollard brought Mrs Whippple to Jont Pollards.

20th Saturday  A fine hot day some cloudy & began to rain about 5 or 6 rained pretty steddy all the fore part of the night  we had a fine rain  I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 nearly sick  Emma Anesworth had two pictures taken today her sister Elizabeth was here all day & night  Clarks girles went home today Jermone Beardsly came from Batavia with a buggy had been to work there delivery ice  old Mr Holenbeck died today in Michigan.

21st Sunday  A fine day with some clouds & a fine air  I did my choars choared round some etc and went to bed about 9 nearly sick with a cold Emma Stone called here with Clark French & his sister & they went to meeting.

22nd Monday  rather fine pleasant weather but hot  I did my choars choared round some during the day closed up at 8 and went to bed at about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with a cold  Old Mr Holenbeck was brought to Aurora today & buried.

23rd Tuesday  fine hot growing weather for the season  I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard an nearly sick with a cold  Mrs Stone came here tonight on the stage & went to Frenchs & stayed over night.

24th Wednesday  fine growing weather & some showerey  I did my choars choared round some all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 10 tiard & nearly sick with a cold  Mrs Stone came tonight in the stage  Mrs Anesworth went home  old Mr Holenbeck died last night?”
