Hiram E. Leonard Diary, January 12 - 18, 1876
“12th Wednesday fine cool winter weather roads rough I did my choars was at the officer all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 sick with the rheumatism Benjamin Pavers father died with the heart diseas tonight about 10 or 11 oclock.
“13th Thursday fine cool winter weather rough roads I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 nearly sick & worne out etc.
“14th Friday fine winter weather more mild I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 nearly worne out with the rheumatism Ed Rogers & Henry drew straw for me in afternoon.
“15th Saturday fine weather more mild & thawed some I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick with the rheumatism A T Jones & wife got home from their fathers Bentlys tonight in the night.
“16th Sunday A cloudy damp morning & misty damp day I did my choars was at the house all day wrote some etc went to bed at 9 nearly sick etc Ben Paver got home from his fathers funeral about noon this is the 3 Sunday that Elder Cheina has missed & not come to preach.
“17th Monday fine mild winter weather but muddy I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 afflicted with the rheumatism & a cold.
“18th Tuesday mild winter weather & muddy I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 afflicted with the rheumatism & a cold cloudy nasty weather.”
