Hiram E. Leonard Diary, November 29 - December 5, 1871

“29th Wednesday  A fine day for Nov but cool  I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & tiared out.

“30th Thursday  A fine cool day the ground white with snow  I did my choars choared round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 sick [in margin] it is Thanksgiving Day & Emma Stone went to Turner to a ball.

“December 1st Friday  rather a fine day but cool  I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick  Emma Stone got home about 5 ½ this morning   G Hagaman took her to the ball.

“2nd Saturday  A fine pleasant day & thawed conciderable  I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick  N Stone was here [in margin] Emma went to prayer meeting.

“3rd Sunday  A cool cloudy day & looks like a storm  I did my choars choared round some went to the farm & fixed up the mangers etc wrote some etc went to bed about 9 nearly sick  Emma went to meeting in afternoon & evening Nelson Stone was here.

“4th Monday  A snowey morning & winterey day about 3 inches of snow on the ground pretty cold  I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.

“5th Tuesday  A cold winter day & night  I did my choars choared round all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.”
