Hiram E. Leonard Diary, July 26 - August 1, 1871

26th Wednesday  verry dry hot weather  I did my choars choared round the office etc closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick [in margin] making wine.

27th Thursday  fine hot dry weather a little sprinkle in afternoon with a heavey clap thunder & lightening struck T W Watsons lightning rod & left it & tere the shingles on the roof & nocked his wife down& shocked Mrs Pollard acrost the road at L V Resseguies I did my choars choared round mad rheubarb wine etc closed up at 8 ½ went to bed 9 ½.

28th Friday  A fine hot & verry dry day  I did my choars choared round store some mad some rhubarb wine etc closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½.

29th Saturday  A hot dry day  I did my choars choared round the office all day made some wine etc closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.

30th Sunday  A fine hot & verry dry day some clouds  I did my choars choared round the house some laid down etc wrote some etc went to Kenyons & up to the farm etc went to bed at 9 about sick.

31st Monday  fine hot weather  I did my choars was round the office all day choaring  I did my [sic] up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick.

August 1st Tuesday  fine hot weather & verry dry  I did my choars was round the office all day a choaring closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 nearly sick.”
