Hiram E. Leonard Diary, January 8 - 14, 1874

“8th Thursday  fine cool winter weather for the season  I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 10 nearly sick with a cold  [in margin] meeting.

“9th Friday  A cold day but fine for winter I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 11  nearly sick with a cold.

“10th Saturday  fine winter weather  I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick with a cold etc  E P Mack hired girl a Dane died this morning with fever, J B Pollard came out here.

“11th Sunday  A fine cool pleasant day for January  I did my choars was at home all day a choaring & awriting etc went to bed about 9 oclock about sick  J B Pollard was here E P Macks hiered girls a Dane was buried today  Funeral at Baptist & Methodist joined in the Protracted Meeting.

“12th Monday  fine winter weather  I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 10 nearly sick with a cold [in margin] Meetings.

“13th Tuesday  fine winter weather but pretty cold  I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 10 nearly sick [in margin] Meeting.”

“14th Wednesday  pretty cold weather & rough  I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed after 10 nearly sick [in margin] Meeting.”
