Hiram E. Leonard Diary, October 27 - November 2, 1875
“27th Wednesday rather fine cool weather I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly worne out with the rheumatism & cold Elder Van Osdels wife had a son born today to the Ministry.
“28th Thursday rather a fine day but cool & cloudy I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick Samuel Netsler & Hannah Connell were married in the forenoon at the Catholic Church in Naperville came home and took dinner & started about one for Naperville to go to Chicago George & Kate went with them.
“29th Friday A damp misty disagreeable day & rained hard with a thunder shower in the evening I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick with the Nelster & Hannah & the others came back & Watson & his wife were to Connells in evening.
“30th Saturday A cool cloudy windy day I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 about sick with rheumatism.
“31st Sunday A cool cloudy day I did my choars was at the house the most of the day choared some wrote some & went to bed at 9 nearly sick John Billings called here about 2 & stayed a while.
“November 1st Monday fine cool weather for the season I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 nearly sick with the rheumatism Coan was here to get the right of way on the railroad.
“2nd Tuesday fine weather for Nov cool I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly worn out with the rheumatism Watson husking corn on my place.”
