Hiram E. Leonard Diary, November 10 - 16, 1875
“10th Wednesday fine cool weather for November I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 afflicted with the rheumatism etc A Waterman & family went to Iowa about today he had been arrested by government for swindling.
“11th Thursday fine cool weather for the season I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 nearly tiered out Eddy came here tonight with 6 scrapers to commence on the railroad.
“12th Friday fine cool weather for the season I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & tiered out Eddy & the scrapers went back East till Monday had a railroad meeting at Naperville to get our road from us.
“13th Saturday fine cool weather for the season I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick & tiered they had a railroad meeting at Naperville tonight to see about the narrow gage railroad & get it from us.
“14th Sunday A cloudy mild day & looks like a storm I did my choars was at the house the most of the day went to the farm & back wrote some & choared some went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick.
“15th Monday fine cool winter weather for the season I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick Lousburg commenced grading the railroad on Jud Graveses today.
“16th Tuesday fine cool winter weather for Nov I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick.”
