Hiram E. Leonard Diary August 31 - September 6, 1876
“31st Thursday fine weather but dry I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick & worne out.
“September 1st Friday fine weather & a little more cool I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ afflicted with the rheumatism Soperey had a comic lecture at the Methodist Church tonight quite a full attendance.
“2nd Saturday fine weather & quite warm I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with the rheumatism & crick in my back & hips & pains all over me George Sidwell got back from Crown Point this afternoon all right.
“3rd Sunday A fine warm day but some cloudy I did my choars was at the store some fixed my out beens at Kenyons some was at home the most of the day sick with the rheumatism & crick in my back and hips went to bed about 9 used up.
“4th Monday fine weather for the season I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ and went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.
“5th Tuesday A rainey disagreeable day I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick etc.
“6th Wednesday A cool cloudy showerey day I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick.”
