Hiram E. Leonard Diary, May 29 - June 4, 1873

29th Thursday  fine for grass etc but cold for corn  I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ sick with a cold & rheumatism  Frank M McGee & a young man with him came & stayed over night at Perrys a thunder shower tonight.

30th Friday  A cold morning for last of May  I did my choars choared round some closed up at 9 & went to bed about 10 nearly sick etc  Frank M McGee stayed at Perry all day & night again.

31st Saturday  A cold morning with quite a frost  I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick F M McGee started to Junction.

June 1st Sunday  A fine day & quite warm  I did my choars choared round some  was up to the farm a choaring some and went to bed about 9 nearly sick with a cold  The Dunkerd meeting to wash feet & so forth last night & continued today  Emma Ward was baptized today noon below the damb and Willa Butler was baptized  John Strickland & Mrs Barrus were at Garys & Burnets visating.

2nd Monday  fine growing weather  I did my choars choars choars choared round some closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 tiard & nearly sick with cold.

3rd Tuesday  fine warme growing weather  I did my choars choared some closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 ½ tiard & nearly sick with a cold etc.

4th Wednesday  rather fine but some cloudy & looks like rain  I did my choars choared round some closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with a  cold & rheumatism  Emma Pollard & a Mr Vosburgh were married today by Rev. Thomas T Potter at her fathers she was 23 years old today.”
