Hiram E. Leonard Diary, May 19 - 25, 1875

19th Wednesday  fine weather & more warm  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick with a cold & the rheumatism  Frank Pierce from Batavia was at D Kenyons.

20th Thursday  fine weather but dry  things begin to grow  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 about sick with the rheumatism etc.

21st Friday   A warm pleasant day some cloudy & sprinkled  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick with the rheumatism  Simeon Billings came over to see his mother & stayed all night  Dr Daniels was up & she was pretty sick.

22nd Saturday  A cloudy day & mist some things grow  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 about sick with the rheumatism  My cow calved this afternoon  Simeon Billings went home & come over again in afternoon & brought his wife & stayed all night  Platt from Wheaton was down to see Betsy.

23rd Sunday  A warm cloudy day & mist some  I did my choars was round the house the most of the day went to farm in forenoon & fixed my stable to put calf in  Simeon Billings & wife went home this morning early.

24th Monday  pretty fine growing weather  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick with a cold & Mrs Belinda Pollard started for Michigan to see her mother that was not like to live.

25th Tuesday  fine growing weather  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick with a cold & rheumatism  took my cow and six sheep up to the farm.”
