Hiram E. Leonard Diary, July 21 - 27, 1875
“21st Wednesday fine hay weather but hot I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 nearly sick with the rheumatism my cow took the bull today.
“22nd Thursday A fine hot day with a light shower here & a pretty hard shower south & east of us I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 nearly sick with the rheumatism Wm P Griffeth shingled on the east side of my store.
“23rd Friday A fine hot day I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 Nearly sick etc Jont Pollard & Willa took Frenches bull home this morning Wm P Griffeth shingled all day & Willard Brand in the afternoon.
“24th Saturday A fine hay day & verry hot I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick with the rheumatism Edward Mulnix and Eliza Perry were married at Geneva today.
“25th Sunday A fine hot day & some cloudy I did my choars was at home the most of the day was at the farm a while went to bed about 9 nearly sick with the rheumatism.
“26th Monday fine weather but some cloudy I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick with the rheumatism & a cold.
“27th Tuesday some cloudy poor hay weather I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 nearly sick & tiered out etc.”
