Hiram E. Leonard Diary, August 4 - 10, 1875
“4th Wednesday A cloudy muddy I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 sick Purly Reynolds & Charles Reynolds saw Hurbot Hollister on the rout from Warrens old house to the Curtis Place on that cross road & run & overtook him & talked with him etc Greens store or the Jones store was boared into last night.
“5th Thursday A pretty fine day but a shower came about sunset & went round to the North & south & rained pretty hard here in the evening & blowed the town of Streeter all to peaces, I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick with the rheumatism & cold Griffith finished shingling my store.
“6th Friday A damp muddy morning finer towards night I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick etc.
“7th Saturday A pretty fine day I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick with a cold & the rheumatism etc D M Connell the tea man & Mary Connell came home from a trip to New York City.
“8th Sunday rather a fine hot day I did my choars was at the office at home went to bed at 9 nearly sick with a cold & rheumatism.
“9th Monday rather a fine day I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly sick with a cold & the rheumatism bad weather for harvesting.
“10th Tuesday A cloudy damp day I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 tiard & nearly sick with the rheumatism.”
