Hiram E. Leonard Diary, September 8 - 14, 1875
“8th Wednesday began to rain this morning about 3 oclock & rained tremendous hard for 2 or 3 hours, showerey all day and rained about all tonight I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly worne out with the rheumatism.
“9th Thursday rained last night & some this morning I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 about worn out with the rheumatism Benny Jones Ezras boy died this morning about 5 oclock disentary Caroline got home from Iowa today in stage about 11 ½ AM.
“10th Friday Some cloudy & damp cleared off cold tonight I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 about sick with the rheumatism.
“11th Saturday A fine cool day some cloudy I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 with the rheumatism Benny Jones funeral was held at the Baptist Church this forenoon.
“12th Sunday A pretty fine warm day some clouds I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 nearly worn out with the rheumatism.
“13th Monday pretty fine weather I did my choars was round the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 troubled with the rheumatism.
“14th Tuesday pretty fine weather for Sept I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 afflicted with the rheumatism & a cold.”
