Hiram E. Leonard Diary, May 4 - 10, 1876
“4th Thursday A cold cloudy day with some squalls of rain I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 about worne out with the rheumatism.
“5th Friday rather a cloudy squalley day I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 trouble with the rheumatism & a cold George Sidwell worked for Mrs Curtiss or the Col Warren.
“6th Saturday A cold cloudy damp day & rained the most of the day & a thunder shower towards night about 5 I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at 9 about worne out with the rheumatism my cow calved this afternoon heafer calf, G Sidwell was here about sick.
“7th Sunday rather a fine day but some cloudy & windy I did my choars was at the house the most of the day went to the farm about 11 & back went to bed about 9 nearly sick with the rheumatism & a cold.
“8th Monday rather fine cool dry weather I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed at about 9 nearly sick with the rheumatism & a col old goos commenced to hatch her goslins.
“9th Tuesday A fine cool & rather dry day I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 and went to bed at 9 afflicted with the rheumatism Jonathan Pollard took his cows calf up to my place to paster this summer.
“10th Wednesday rather fine weather for the season but cool & dry I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 & went to bed about 9 nearly sick as usual I took my cow & calf up to the farm to paster old goos came off with her goslins she had 4 George went to D C Browns.”
