Hiram E. Leonard Diary, September 28 - October 4, 1876

“28th Thursday  fine cool weather some cloudy  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ and went to bed about 9 ½ nearly sick with the rheumatism  mooved some  pigs down today.

“29th Friday  A fine cool day but some cloudy  I did my choars was at the office the most of the day closed up at 8 and went to bed about 9 nearly sick & tiered out with rheumatism & a cold  We mooved down here from the house today.

“30th Saturday  fine cold day but some cloudy  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly tiered out with the rheumatism etc  A Republican meeting at & speaking at the Baptist Church tonight  George Beem spoke & others.

“October 1st Sunday  A cold & some cloudy & windy  I did my choars was at the house the most of the day awriting etc went to bed about 9 nearly sick with the rheumatism.

“2nd Monday  rather fine cool weather  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick  Mrs Tart & James Tart had a fracus & parted.

“3rd Tuesday  fine cool weather for the season  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ & went to bed at 9 ½ nearly sick freezes nights  Isaac Murry Ned’s son was married to Miss Webster  Ned gave him the farm.

“4th Wednesday  fine cool weather for Oct  I did my choars was at the office all day closed up at 8 ½ and went to bed at 9 ½ sick with the rheumatism.”
